Buying guide

Everything you need to know about buying from Bold & Noble and our happy customers

How they’re printed

Our prints are silk screen printed in Hertfordshire, it’s a traditional method resulting in unsurpassed ink density. All our inks are hand-mixed, so while we aim for a consistent colour, they may vary slightly from one print to the next.
Our linens are printed by craftspeople in Lincolnshire. They’re screen printed onto 100% cotton using water based inks. The printing, stitching and packing takes place on the same premises.
Our wallpapers are printed in Lancashire (in one of the UK’s last surviving paper mills) using flexographic rollers onto PEFC certified papers. In simpler terms that’s paper manufacture that promotes the sustainable management of forests.

Our green credentials

Each print is hand-pulled onto off-white, recycled card made of 100% de-inked post-consumer waste. That means a genuine recycling process is ensured and landfill waste is minimised.
Our tea towels are printed in Lincolnshire using water based inks onto 100% cotton. They're packed in acid free tissue and sent in degradable poly bags that compost within 18 months.
Our wallpaper is printed using non-toxic water based inks on certified flame retardant, guaranteed PEFC paper.

Sizes, framing and aftercare

All our prints fit into standard sized off the shelf frames, readily available from retailers like John Lewis and Ikea. If you want your print to truly stand the test of time, it is worth having it framed professionally to avoid light and air damage. However you frame them, please hang them out of direct sunlight as they may discolour and warp over time.
Our tea towels are all machine washable up to 40° or less. It might be an idea to give it a prewash to soften up before it’s first use. But if you’re using it as kitchen art then it’s ready to go on arrival.

If you’d like us to send a gift on your behalf, we can include a free gift card and your personal message. Please enter your personal message during the checkout process and we’ll hand write your card.

Bespoke orders

We can, and do, print our designs in alternative colours for bespoke requests and we can amend and add new details. As you might expect, these bespoke creations are more expensive because they take time and require new screens/rollers and materials. Please be aware that your choices will be subject to our approval as part of the Bold & Noble brand.
Book covers, anniversary artworks, birthday gifts, tea towels… we can create one off designs for all occasions. If you have a special project you’d like to discuss, please visit our commissions section for more details or email us direct with your ideas and we’ll get back to you.

Gift giving

“Hello, I’ve just ordered an Alphabot print from you. It’s a present for a friend in Paris. I leave for France next Thursday 6 May, and was hoping you can get it to me no later than Wednesday 5 May. Please, please, please get it to me on time! It’s a 40th birthday party and I’ll have my cojones cut off, finely sliced, and served to all the guests, if I fail to show up with this print. No pressure or anything but the remainder of my married life depends on the timely arrival of said poster!”

Customer Service

“Thanks for that information. I think it might be the first time I have received an email from an actual person after ordering something online (unless you are a supercomputer cleverly disguised as particularly pleasant Englishwoman). Even so, thanks again.”

Fan mail

“Hello! I just placed an order and am so excited to receive everything. I bought 3 of these prints while I was away this weekend. My husband and I just loved the 3 we purchased there and I was so happy when I Googled your company and saw I could order more! And boy did I!”
